Timber haulier Jim Yule needs a truck that’s tough enough to cope with the demands of his work deep in the forests of North-East Scotland, which explains why he’s now running his second Mercedes-Benz Arocs.
The owner-driver, who is based in Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, took delivery of his strikingly finished tractor unit from local Dealer BLS Truck & Van. A 6x2 Arocs 2553 model with tag axle, the truck has a flat-floored, 2.5 metre-wide version of the aerodynamic StreamSpace cab. Its advanced, 12.8-litre straight-six engine, meanwhile, produces 390 kW (530 hp) and drives through a Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmission.
There’s a new name for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles in the north of Scotland, and BLS Truck & Van is already investing heavily to ensure it delivers the exceptional customer service that befits the legendary three-pointed star.
Aberdeen-based EIS Waste Services is looking forward to improved economy after commissioning Scotland’s first Mercedes-Benz Econics to be fitted with the manufacturer’s own, automated gearbox.
Long-standing Mercedes-Benz truck operator Lovie Quarry & Concrete Products is running its first vehicle from the newest member of the manufacturer’s Dealer network.
Based just outside New Pitsligo, near Fraserburgh, and with a network of quarries across North-East Scotland, Lovie has relied on Mercedes-Benz trucks since the 1970s. The arrival of the new Actros 2553, however, represents the start of a fresh chapter in this historic relationship.
